As the Commonwealth Games approach, is Glasgow ready to host? | BBC News

The Commonwealth Games gets underway in Glasgow in just under a week. Scotland’s largest city stepped in after the state of Victoria in Australia dropped out.

It’s had less than two years to prepare and will be hosting a scaled back programme of 10 sports – down from 17 sports in 2014.

BBC Scotland Correspondent Lorna Gordon has been speaking to people in the city about whether it’s ready to host the games, and Sir Chris Hoy speaks to BBC Breakfast about the opportunities that the Games provide for Scotland.
