Federov’s dismissal surprised many observers of Ukrainian politics as it happened precisely at the moment when Ukraine appears to be scoring significant wins in its war against Russia. His ousting from his job is thought to be linked to tensions with Ukraine’s commander-in-chief Oleksandr Syrski.
