Low water levels in Danube river reveal Ice Age mammoth remains in Bulgaria

Experts in Bulgaria say bone fragments discovered near the northeastern city of Ruse most likely belonged to a young woolly mammoth that lived during the Ice Age. The well-preserved remains, including parts of the jaw, tusks, shoulder blade, and femur, were found together, suggesting they came from a single animal. The rare discovery was made on the riverbank after the Danube’s water level receded to a record low.
