Europe’s second-longest river faces severe drought

While parts of Europe battle intense wildfires fuelled by heatwaves, others are facing severe drought. In Hungary, low water levels on the Danube have forced the government to scale-back operations at its nuclear power plant. In Romania, the navy is trying to divert water from other rivers into the Danube. Scientists say Europe’s drought is being driven less by a lack of rain and more by extreme heat. Kristina Simich reports.
