Heat health alerts have been upgraded across England as temperatures are forecast to reach 36°C in the southeast on August 13. The Met Office is considering extreme heat warnings as soaring temperatures hit areas already facing drought conditions, with much of England and Wales expected to see temperatures in the low to mid-30s Celsius. More than 70% of England is officially in drought, affecting around 45 million people, while more than 27 million face water restrictions such as hosepipe bans as water supplies come under increasing pressure.
