Hikers and campers scrambled for safety as heavy rain and strong winds triggered a flash flood near Phantom Ranch in Arizona’s Grand Canyon National Park. Footage showed swollen waterways and debris rushing into the Colorado River, while helicopters arrived as authorities worked to evacuate people from the affected area. Reports say one person was killed and more than 20 people may be missing after the flooding struck Bright Angel Canyon and Phantom Ranch on August 29.
