Colonialism not only changed borders but also renamed rivers, mountains, lakes, and cities, erasing indigenous identities in favour of names that honoured foreign rulers. Today, many of these names still appear on our maps, in tourism, and in international contexts. Could restoring indigenous names also help restore history?
