Top French football league signs stopgap TV deal with Canal+, ending months-long battle

The French #football​ #league​ has avoided a major crisis by securing #TV​ rights with the #Canal​+ group. 80% of the Ligue 1 came up for sale after a €1-billion deal with Spanish broadcaster Mediapro collapsed in autumn. The deal represents a sign of relief to French football teams, who were under the threat of running short of funds.
