Authorities in Kosovo say they’ve taken control of a Serbian Orthodox monastery in the north of the territory. It ends a stand-off there between ethnic Serb gunmen and police. The government is suspected of carrying out a night-time attack in which a policeman and three of the gunmen died. Kosovo declared independence in 2008 but Serbia – along with Belgrade’s key allies China and Russia – does not recognise it.
