US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has told Israel that the US will always be by its side. Blinken made the comment at a press conference after meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Tel Aviv. Blinken’s visit and comments come a day after US President Joe Biden said his administration is working to secure the release of Americans who are among the hostages taken by the Palestinian Islamist militant group Hamas following its terror attack against Israel. After meeting with leaders of America’s Jewish community, Biden said had spoken to Prime Minister Netanyahu again and urged Israel to observe the rules of war. He also reassured him the US would help to make sure that Israel has all the help it needs. Many American Jews have close ties to Israel. DW went to meet some of them and hear what they had to say.
