Joe Biden’s hopes of being re-elected in November suffered a major blow last week after a report into his handling of classified documents concluded he was a “well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory”. Mr Biden’s age, gaffes and apparent mental fragility have been repeatedly targeted and mocked by Donald Trump. Britain’s former ambassador to the US, Lord Kim Darroch, told Trevor Phillips the Biden campaign needed to take a “high risk” strategy of getting the president “out there” if he was going to win a second term in power.
