Former head of the British Army, General Lord Dannatt, has told Sky News the “case for an increase in defence spending is growing” in order to be ready for the threats we face. He says it’s not about preparing to fight a war but “having the military capacity to deter aggression from other people”, to the extent that the UK is “vulnerable if Ukraine fails”. The interview started though with a question about the government’s new definition on extremism and whether or not it has become politicised.
