London mayor Sadiq Khan has refused to say whether his close colleague Diane Abbott should have the Labour party whip restored. Ms Abbott was suspended from the party last April after suggesting Jewish, Irish and Traveller people are not subject to racism “all their lives”. Mr Khan, who is launching his mayoral re-election campaign, said he was too close to Ms Abbott to give an impartial view.
