Head of the Norwegian Refugee Council Jan Egeland, a veteran diplomat who helped negotiate the Oslo peace accords between Israel and the Palestinians, says an Israeli military operation against Rafah would be “a bloodbath.” Egeland told DW’s Tim Sebastian that Israeli operations in the wake of the October 7th attack have been “disproportionate” since week one and that Western governments sending military equipment to Israel are complicit. Egeland also said he thought most people wanted to leave Gaza and predicted an exodus to Europe when the conflict ended.
