On Wednesday Germany’s defense minister Boris Pistorius outlined a new plan to increase the number of recruits in the armed forces. It’s not only Germany. More European countries are taking steps to strengthen their armed forces after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Germany ended compulsory conscription in 13 years ago – and has struggled to recruit soldiers.
