The new government has set out its legislative agenda for the next year in the King’s Speech.
The address outlined 39 bills that ministers want to pass in the next parliamentary session.
The announcements focused on improving living standards by driving economic growth, the first of Sir Keir Starmer’s five "missions for national renewal".
There were also announcements on plans to build more houses, nationalise the railways and give greater powers to the UK’s fiscal watchdog over spending commitments to prevent a repeat of the Liz Truss mini-budget fiasco.
