Jenin mayor compares Israeli raid to ‘earthquake’ amid $135M in damages

“The ongoing Israeli military operation in Jenin resembles an ‘earthquake,’ causing an estimated $135.2 million in damage so far,” said Jenin Mayor Nidal al Obaidi in an interview with Anadolu.

“The greatest loss is the lives of the martyrs,” Obaidi continued. “Materially, the destruction is immense, including the damage to infrastructure like water and communication lines and the targeting of electricity transformers.”

“The Israeli army is deliberately sabotaging and destroying the city,” Obaidi noted, emphasising that the offensive, now in its fifth day, continues to bring new destruction each day.
