President Vladimir Putin has delivered a clear message to the West about the consequences it will face if it allows Ukraine to hit Russian territory with Western long-range missiles, the Kremlin said on Friday. Putin said on Thursday that the West would be directly fighting with Russia if it allowed Ukraine to strike Russian territory with Western-made long-range missiles, a move he said would alter the nature and scope of the conflict. All the while, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused the West on Friday of being too "afraid" to even raise the possibility of shooting down Russian missiles and drones targeting Ukraine, even though it is helping Israel to do so. Faced with massive Russian missile strikes and drone attacks, Kyiv wants its allies to help it shoot down the weapons from their own territory, stressing this would save the lives of Ukrainian civilians without a risk of killing Russian soldiers.
