Despite Labour’s manifesto pledge to end the use of hotels for asylum seekers, the Best Western in Altrincham has been chosen to house nearly 200 migrants.
Over the past week, the hotel cancelled all of its bookings without warning, as it made commitments to make way for asylum seekers. Labour blame the move on the backlog from the Rwanda policy halting claims.
But, as the new arrivals settle in, their presence is causing controversy. Sky’s home editor Jason Farrell heard from residents of a Greater Manchester town on their thoughts, as well as some of the migrants that have been houses in the hotel.
