“Deny, Defend, and Depose”
US police say these messages were found on rounds of ammunition used to kill UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in NYC.
These words may refer to a book critical of the insurance industry titled “Delay, Deny, Defend: Why Insurance Companies Don’t Pay Claims.”
Last year, UnitedHealthcare was accused of using AI technology to automatically “deny” elderly patients certain types of treatment.
Thompson, who had led the multinational insurance company since 2021, was murdered on December 4 in New York City while hosting a Wall Street investor event designed to showcase UnitedHealthcare’s strategic leadership.
He was 50 years old and the father of two sons.
