International tourism to the US taken a hit since the start of the Trump administration. Global trade tensions are playing a part, but many travellers are also put off by strict border controls and harrowing stories of random arrests. Germans are among those caught up in Trump’s migration crackdown.
The number of visitors from Canada, formerly the biggest source of international tourists to the US, has declined steeply, with many joining a boycott against the US, following President Trump’s threats to annex Canada.
DW spoke to one Canadian who says she won’t be visiting the US again until Trump is out of office.
