Israel commemorated the 6 million Jewish victims of the Holocaust with the sounding of a nationwide siren on Thursday. At 10 am (0700 GMT), public life came to a halt for two minutes: Drivers stopped their cars, and people paused their activities to stand in silent remembrance.
