The Netherlands Prime Minister Dick Schoof has said he is stepping down. His announcement comes hours after far-right leader Geert Wilders pulled his PVV ‘Party for Freedom’ out of the ruling coalition government due to a dispute over migration policy. After a surprise victory in the Netherlands’ November 2023 parliamentary elections, Wilders’ party formed a governing – but shaky – coalition with conservatives, centrists and populists.
