A court in the south of France has handed out prison sentences to three owners of buildings that collapsed in Marseille in 2018, killing eight. The accused were charged with manslaughter. The tragedy raised serious questions about the state of housing in France’s second biggest city. According to a 2015 government report, 13% of Marseille’s private housing is potentially sub-standard.
