Secret Service’s Cascade of Failures: Exposing Trump to a Known Threat Before Butler

This is an outrage. Secret Service agents knowingly exposed a President of the United States to a mortal threat that was known TEN DAYS before the Butler shooting. Thomas Crooks was on the FBI’s “radar” before Trump was shot. He was on the FBI’s “radar” the day Trump was shot. But he disappeared from the “radar” as soon as he shot President Trump. We still don’t know much about Thomas Crooks’ motive, his three encrypted foreign accounts, why his social media history is missing/scrubbed, why he was frequenting a gun club known to be a DHS hangout spot, why he contacted people whose metadata history includes visits to an FBI office in Washington D.C., why he was cremated shortly after the attack, or why the FBI’s cleaners did an immaculate mop-up of the shooting spot before various independent investigators could survey the scene.

Here is the most disturbing part of it all: New reports indicate not a single Secret Service agent got more than a slap on the wrist for the potentially deadly mistake that nearly ended a presidential candidate’s life. If this were anyone else but Trump, heads would have rolled and we would have had answers. This is yet another cover-up that is completely unacceptable. America is not a free nation if the people cannot get basic answers about what is going on in their own government.

This oversight, amid broader systemic failures, nearly cost Trump his life and resulted in the death of rally attendee Corey Comperatore and injuries to two others. As Grassley noted, “the Secret Service had no process to share classified threat information with partners when the information was not considered an imminent threat to life

Compounding the issue were inadequate policies on roles and responsibilities. The USSS’s Office of Protective Operations issued overly broad guidelines, leading agents to rely on personal experience rather than standardized protocols

On-site decisions further eroded security: A Trump campaign staffer, unaware of the threat, requested no large farm equipment near the AGR building to avoid obstructing press photos. The advance team complied, opting for a jumbotron and flag instead, which may have created a line-of-sight opportunity for shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks from the rooftop.

Resource denials exacerbated risks. Requests for enhanced counter-unmanned aerial surveillance (cUAS) were rejected, redirected to national conventions, though counter-sniper teams were approved ad hoc by senior executives—a move inconsistent with protocol but crucial in neutralizing Crooks

The GAO concludes these failures stemmed from years of mismanagement, including Biden administration denials of enhanced Trump security requests.
Grassley called the incident a “preventable tragedy,” urging reforms.
A related House task force proposed 37 actionable changes.
This exposure of Trump to a known mortal threat underscores a profound betrayal of duty. As independent journalist Kyle Becker highlighted, unanswered questions about Crooks’ motives, encrypted accounts, and rapid FBI cleanup persist, fueling suspicions of deeper cover-ups.

In my opinion, there is someone at the Secret Service (perhaps one of the agents just suspended) who wants Trump dead. Someone ordered them to let Trump be killed. We must make it all public and expose the traitors so this will never happen again.
