Around 5,000 anti-racism demonstrators staged a counterprotest in London near the “Unite the Kingdom” anti-immigration march on September 13.
Police kept the counterprotesters separate from more than 100,000 people who joined one of the UK’s largest right-wing demonstrations in modern times. Officers said they had to intervene in multiple locations to stop Unite the Kingdom supporters from breaching cordons, entering “sterile areas” between the rallies, or confronting opposing groups.
