On September 28, Peruvian Gen Z demonstrators, joined by transport and merchant unions, marched through downtown Lima for the fourth time, ending the day in clashes with riot police after tensions rose near the streets surrounding Congress.
The protests erupted on September 20 following reforms to the country’s pension system that required all Peruvians above the age of 18 to join a pension provider, but were also fueled by longstanding anger against Boluarte and Congress.
