Garment workers clash with riot police in Dhaka wage protest | DW News

Thousands of workers in Bangladesh’s garment industry have clashed with police in the capital, demanding an increase in their minimum wage. The protests have disrupted key industrial hubs in and around Dhaka. Labor leaders are demanding a raise from around 12,500 taka (€90) a month to around 30,000 taka (€216) to combat inflation and rising living costs. In response, the government has formed a new wage board together with labor leaders and factory owners to review the minimum wage across the industry.
