Nicolas Sarkozy has become the first French ex-President in history to be jailed. The country’s last right-wing leader has started a five-year sentence for conspiring to fund his 2007 election campaign, with money from the late Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi. Sarkozy, who says he’s innocent, is appealing the conviction, with a new trial due to start in six months’ time. Paul Hawkins has more.
