The Committee to Protect Journalists will not release its annual Impunity Index for the first time since 2008, citing the worsening global climate for press freedom. The group of experts from around the world is, instead, calling for an independent task force, pursuing court cases and expanded sanctions against those threatening the very voices that bring truth to light.
