Holocaust Memorial Day is held on the same day every year, marking the liberation date of the largest Nazi concentration camp complex, Auschwitz-Birkenau, on 27 January 1945.
As part of the commemorations, the Holocaust Educational Trust in the UK has launched a new project where school children can speak to survivors using artificial intelligence (AI).
It uses virtual reality headsets, allowing participants to immerse themselves in a survivor’s life story, including their experience in the concentration camps.
The objective is to educate young people about what previous generations inflicted and endured in a way that resonates today.
