Former prime minister Gordon Brown has been appointed as a special envoy on global finance and Harriet Harman as women and girls adviser.
"The PM has committed to boosting the country’s security and resilience," Number 10 said.
"In this role, Gordon Brown will advise on how global finance cooperation can help to achieve this."
Gordon Brown served as chancellor for a decade, between 1997 and 2007 under then-PM Sir Tony Blair. He also became Labour leader and prime minister for three years, until 2010.
