Police in Bolivia’s capital La Paz fired tear gas during clashes with anti-government protesters on May 14. Union workers including miners and farmers, have been demonstrating as the country’s economic and fuel crisis worsens due to a shortage of US dollars and falling domestic energy production. Demonstrators are calling for President Rodrigo Paz’s resignation, just six months after he was sworn into office.
