At least 40 people have died from drowning in France since the weekend as a major heatwave brings record temperatures to Europe. Much of France was set to experience temperatures around 40 °C as Spain also swelters in extreme heat. In the UK, attending the climate innovation forum, UN chief Antonio Guterres warns, saying ‘London is cooking’ as Britain is on course to smash a 1976 June record. Shadia Edwards-Dashti reports.
