Thousands of firefighters took to the streets of Paris on September 29, joining a nationwide public-sector strike to demand more funding, staff, and better equipment following a severe fire season. Around 8,000 firefighters marched with flares, union flags, and banners bearing the slogan “Resources, Not Miracles,” while some protesters staged a sit-in. Similar demonstrations took place in Toulouse, where firefighters lay on the pavement in protest, as unions warned of growing pressure on emergency services.
