Hurricane Milton update: Florida avoids ‘worst case scenario’ but several dead | DW News

Clean-up is underway in Florida after the state was hammered by Hurricane Milton.

At least 10 people have been confirmed dead, but Governor Ron DeSantis said that Florida had avoided the worst.

The storm has also become an election issue ahead of November’s presidential vote.

Former President Donald Trump has accused President Biden of mismanaging Milton and its predecessor Hurricane Helene, and spread falsehoods about the emergency aid funds provided by Biden’s administration.

Others have gone further with Republican House Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene claiming that it was possible for humans to control the weather.
