Although there are big questions over what will come next for Syria, the fall of the Assad regime marks a “happy day” for Syrians said Nadim Houry, Executive Director at the Arab Reform Initiative Think Tank in Paris. “A regime that has tortured, disappeared and used chemical weapons in its own people is no more,” he said.
"The road ahead is very challenging internally, there are also complex regional dynmamics, but I think it’s important to recognise the happiness and the agency that the Syrian population is feeling today," he added.
