Israel’s Defence Minister Israel Katz is again pushing a controversial plan for the mass emigration of Palestinians from Gaza, saying proposals for large-scale departures remain under discussion.
Katz suggested that Palestinians could be encouraged to leave “by any means necessary,” as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited Israeli soldiers in Gaza and declared there would be no withdrawal.
The comments have renewed international concern over the future of Gaza, the displacement of Palestinians, and Israel’s plans for the territory.
