Two workers rescued from hydropower tunnels in Nepal

The rescue of two workers from a mud-swamped tunnel in Nepal is offering new hope that hundreds more could yet be found alive. Nine days after tonnes of mud. ice and debris swept away thousands of people and dozens of town ..searchers continue to dig. And a few hours ago this success. The men hauled out from the Trishuli project, one of 12 projects that were hit by flash flooding. It’s reported that rescue teams have heard other voices coming from the tunnels. More than It’s than 900 workers are missing from hydropower projects – around half of those thought to be trapped in underground tunnels. The confirmed death toll from the disaster is now nearing 1,300, with more than 5,000 people still unaccounted for.
