Ukraine’s foreign ministry says Kiev is ready to pursue a limited ceasefire with Russia covering energy infrastructure, a day after President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine would support the proposal if the United States could ensure Russia was genuinely prepared to halt attacks. The comments followed US President Donald Trump’s claim that Russia and Ukraine had agreed not to strike each other’s energy targets. Russia has repeatedly targeted Ukrainian energy facilities during the war, causing extensive damage to power and heating networks and disrupting civilian life and industry. Trump earlier made comments blaming diesel shortages and high prices on oil refinery attacks during the Ukraine-Russia war, rather than the US war on Iran that has crippled the trade in Middle East oil.
