A passenger plane in India has skidded off the runway while trying to land at an airport in Kozhikode – also known as Calicut – in the southern state of Kerala. At least 18 people are dead and dozens injured. The Boeing 737, operated by Air India Express, was returning from Dubai, with 190 passengers and crew on board. Heavy monsoon rain and the tabletop runway appear to have had a role in the crash. Indian Prime Minister Modi tweeted his condolences to the victims loved ones.
