Elon Musk told Republicans they had secured the "future of civilisation" as he spoke after Donald Trump’s inauguration.
Musk bounced on stage and danced during his appearance at the the Capital One Arena in Washington DC.
He told Republicans that "it is thanks to you that the future of civilisation is assured".
"Can you imagine how awesome it will be to have American astronauts plant the flag on another planet for the first time?"
