A large explosion rocked Qatar’s Ras Laffan Industrial City on June 21, at a gas supply facility during the start-up of operations. Qatar’s Energy Minister said the explosion killed at least 13 people who "hold Indian and Pakistani nationalities", and injured 66 others, but emphasised that the blast was "an accident and not sabotage or hostile in nature".
